Dike Reconstruction (Postoperative 1 Week, Immediate Post-Suture Removal Progress)
This revision surgery corrects a case where excessive tissue was removed due to an incorrect design during a previous alar base reduction at another facility, resulting in the loss of the nasal floor ridge, commonly known as the “ridge.”
When the nasal septum—the cartilage that divides the nasal passages—flattens, the nostrils become more noticeable or appear unnatural in shape.
When performing alar base reduction surgery, it is essential to design the procedure to preserve the alar base.
The excised embankment is reconstructed using methods such as local flaps or skin-cartilage grafts.
This time, reconstruction was performed using a local flap from the lateral aspect of the nasal ala.
Immediately after suture removal, the scar and any unnatural appearance will still be visible, but they will gradually blend in with the surrounding tissue.
I’ll post updates as appropriate.
