Septal Reconstruction (Nasal Floor Reconstruction)
INDEX
Nasal alar base reconstruction is a surgical procedure to restore the nasal alar base (inner nasal ridge) that was removed during alar base reduction or philtrum shortening. The alar base varies significantly from person to person; some individuals are born with a well-defined alar base, while others have one that is less prominent. A defined alar base helps balance the alar base and columella, contributing to a more aesthetically pleasing nasal appearance.

How the angle changes depending on the presence of an embankment
Front view impression
- No
nasal bridge The area between the nose and mouth appears flat, giving the impression that the nostrils are completely open. - The
bridge of the nose naturally connects from the base of the nose to the mouth, creating a three-dimensional effect at the center. The resulting shadows and highlights give a defined impression from the nose to the mouth.

Impression from an oblique angle
- No bridge
The lack of spatial connection between the tip of the nose and the mouth creates a stretched-out impression. The beautiful curve of the profile appears interrupted. - The
line from the tip of the nose to the lips flows smoothly, creating a well-defined curve along the entire contour. This produces a soft, elegant three-dimensional effect.

Features of Our Nasal Floor Reconstruction
The ridge is reconstructed using techniques such as a “local flap” that moves skin from
the outer edge of the nostril, or grafting dermis or auricular cartilage. Ridge reconstruction does not follow a single standardized procedure; it is often performed using a combined approach that integrates multiple techniques. This is because the cause of the missing ridge and the condition of the skin differ for each patient, making the optimal method unique to each case.
Our clinic employs a comprehensive approach, carefully designing the reconstruction of the nasal dorsum to achieve a more natural and balanced nose.
